‘Don’t I look handsome?’ – Pele shares first pic in months after hospital scare and reveals wife cuts his hair

BRAZILIAN football legend Pele is in good spirits after a health scare in December had fans fearing for his life.

He was in hospital for 17 days receiving treatment for colon cancer, but has now updated fans with a social media post in which he joked 'Don't you think I'm handsome?'.

The 81-year-old showed the fighter he is by grinning for his Instagram followers and hitting back at those who have claimed he is 'not well'.

Pele has been active on social media but no pictures of himself since Christmas Day had raised some concerns about his wellbeing.

But Pele has now revealed he's enjoyed some self care of late thanks to his wife, Marcia Aoki.

Aoki, who married Pele in 2016, has been cutting his hair for him.

He wrote: "My friends, I know that there are people looking for news about me. So I send it here.

"Today I took the day to take care of my look! Since the beginning of the pandemic, my wife has been my favorite hairdresser.

Pele also spent a month at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo earlier in September 2021 after having a tumour removed.

His latest visit to hospital in December had fans fearing for his wellbeing, but his family shared positive updates and urged people to 'calm down'.

Flavia Kurtz Nascimento – sharing a picture of her posing with beaming dad Pele – captioned her post: "My people!!! Calm down…

"Last visit of the year to Einstein… Keeping up the treatment, with control exams and chemo…

"Thanks to this wonderful team… my father just EVOLVES!!!

"Thank you very much for the affection, everyone… but Papi is Great."

The three-time World Cup winner confirmed in September he would need to undergo chemotherapy sessions after a tumour was discovered in his colon during routine checks.
