Horse racing tips: Templegate's much-loved NAP looks a good thing in Saturday's big race at Wetherby | The Sun

TEMPLEGATE takes on another massive Saturday of racing confident of finding you a winner or two.

Read on for our man's top tips, check out his 12 horses to bash the bookies this jumps season… and back a fancy by clicking their odds below.

AHOY SENOR (3.35 Wetherby, nap)

He has only run nine times under Rules and has already landed two Grade 1s and a couple of Grade 2s.

He was a good second in the Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival before slamming his rivals to take the Mildmay at Aintree.

MOLLY OLLYS WISHES (2.25 Wetherby, nb)

She won this race last year without breaking sweat and went on to take Grade 2 honours at Ascot.

She then ran on truly awful ground at Haydock and was still feeling the effects when down the field at Aintree in April. Going back against the mares at an ideal track can pay dividends.

OUR POWER (3.15 Ascot, treble)

He was a good fifth in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival when he boxed on well although the tough Cheltenham hill clearly wasn’t ideal.

He is back from a 2lb lower handicap mark at a much easier track and he liked some give in the ground when third in hot company at Kempton in February.

Templegate's ITV Racing verdicts

ASCOT

1.30

GOSHEN was on a different level to these rivals over hurdles and famously should have won a big pot at the Cheltenham Festival two years ago.

Trainer Gary Moore says he has been schooling well ahead of this chase debut and he’s still only six so could be better still over the bigger obstacles.

Samarrive’s best form has been on a right-handed track so Ascot should be ideal for this first spin over fences.

He was an easy winner at Sandown on his last timber run and is another with scope to improve.

Gowel Road is the only one to have jumped a fence and made errors when well beaten at Perth last month.

Cobblers Dream was second in Martin Pipe at Cheltenham so has some quality. He should make a nice chaser and is respected.

2.05

BROOMFIELD BURG will be much happier dropping in trip on this speed track after not quite getting home over 2m4f in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow 21 days ago.

The Nicky Henderson-trained ace travelled strongly there but was just outstayed. The handicapper has left mark alone and he’ll be hard to keep out of the frame.

Anyharminasking is progressing well and sauntered to victory at Sedgefield when last seen in January.

He is open to a lot more improvement and is dangerous despite the lack of a recent run.

On form, Hacker Des Places looks a big threat after finishing last season with a big handicap win at Aintree. He’s up a fair 5lb for that.

The only worry is trainer Paul Nicholls says he’ll need this so maybe he’s one to watch for a future assignment.

Washington was just behind him at Aintree and can make his presence felt again on comeback.

Call Of The Wild is one to watch with a drop in trip sure to help.

2.40

BEFORE MIDNIGHT has a liking for Ascot and is only 3lb higher than when scoring over course and distance this time last year.

After that he held his own in strong contests at Doncaster and Aintree and some cut in the ground is ideal. He goes well fresh too.

It would be no shock to see Gumball run well at an each-way price.

He ran his best race for a long time on the Flat here last month and has come down the weights. Ascot suits and this race looks wide open.

Amoola Gold won this first-time-out last season and is back from a 3lb lower mark. He ran in some really hot contests after that win and he looks dangerous.

Thyme White copped a bad fall at Aintree in April but ran well here before that and Paul Nicholls says they have been working on his jumping.

He has a good engine and more rain would help his chances.

Nassalam didn’t do much wrong last season including when winning the novice chase on this card. There’s every chance he can improve again from what looks a fair handicap mark.

3.15

OUR POWER was a good fifth in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival when he boxed on well although the tough Cheltenham hill clearly wasn’t ideal.

He is back from a 2lb lower handicap mark at a much easier track and he liked some give in the ground when third in hot company at Kempton in February.

He’s only had one season over fences and has more to offer.

Major Dundee progressed nicely last term and ended up with a good third in the Scottish National.

He also won over this shorter trip and has a touch of class. More rain would bring his stamina into play.

Tea Clipper is respected and was a neck second at Chepstow on comeback earlier this month.

He was just ahead of the tip in the Ultima and has few miles on the clock so has more to offer.

Annsam has only run once over fences since winning here in December. He did well hurdling in the spring and still looks on a fair weight.

WETHERBY

1.50

AUTUMN RETURN has much the strongest form on show thanks to a bumper win at Ayr before running away with her hurdles debut at Market Rasen last month.

She was coming back from six months off there so should take another step forward on this hike in grade.

Sue Smith has plenty of Wetherby winners and her Prairie Wolf looks a threat.

He won a couple of bumpers before making a good start over hurdles when third at Uttoxeter 15 days ago.

There was plenty to work on there so he’ll improve today.

Learntalot is coming along nicely and finished last season with a solid second here.

A repeat would give him a chance, while Macavity won his bumper well at Aintree and has plenty to offer now jumping a hurdle.

2.25

MOLLY OLLYS WISHES won this race last year without breaking sweat and went on to take Grade 2 honours at Ascot.

She then ran on truly awful ground at Haydock and was still feeling the effects when down the field at Aintree in April.

Going back against the mares at an ideal track can pay dividends.

Martello Sky has already scored a couple of times in this Listed grade, although she would prefer a bit further.

She held her own at the Cheltenham Festival last time and goes well fresh. She won’t be far away.

See The Sea is a good handicapper who needs more at this level, with Nina The Terrier capable of better after a solid comeback second at Chepstow last time.

3.00

PROSCHEMA needed his comeback in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow three weeks ago and will relish moving up to this trip.

He has winning form at the track and can go one better than last year’s second.

Indefatigable won this 12 months ago and is fit from a spin on the Flat.

She has a stiffer task at the weights this time but won’t be far away.

Sporting John is a Grade 1 winner over fences but came back to hurdling last season after losing his way.

He hasn’t run since his January win at Warwick but stays well and looks dangerous.

Threeunderthrufive is one of my chasers to follow this season and this is surely a pipe-opener for much bigger challenges to come over fences.

Thomas Darby is hit and miss and should need the run too.

3.35

AHOY SENOR has only run nine times under Rules and has already landed two Grade 1s and a couple of Grade 2s.

He was a good second in the Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival before slamming his rivals to take the Mildmay at Aintree.

He has a brilliant engine and his jumping is getting better with experience.

At this stage, he looks like the leading British hope for the Gold Cup in March.

Paul Nicholls has been making bullish noises about Bravemansgame who won the Kauto Star at Kempton before something went wrong behind the tip at Aintree.

He has had a wind op since then and is being aimed at the King George on Boxing Day which looks an ideal target.

Eldorado Allen was a distant third in the Ryanair at Cheltenham and he still has to prove 100% that he stays.

He’s won first-time out in three of his four seasons so isn’t dismissed here.
