WEST HAM are still favourites to sign Jesse Lingard.

But there's plenty of competition for his signature with Newcastle, Brighton and Jose Mourinho's Roma also in contention, according to bookmakers Betfair.

Lingard will leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of June.

The 29-year-old made 232 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 35 goals and providing 21 assists in all competitions.

He won the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League during his 11-season spell at Old Trafford.

But a new challenge awaits for the England international, who is available on a bargain free transfer.

West Ham are his most likely destination having spent a successful loan spell at the London Stadium.

Lingard scored nine goals in 16 matches under David Moyes, who is understandably eager to strengthen his squad.

The Hammers have already completed the signing of Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd from Ligue 1 side Rennes for £30m.

And they're favourites at 5/4 to bring him back to London this summer.

Newcastle are next in the betting market at 10/3 with manager Eddie Howe reportedly a big fan of the talented attacker.

The Toon failed in their attempts to sign Lingard in January but have cooled their interest because it's claimed he's after £200,000-per-week wages.

Brighton are the biggest movers in the markets having seen their price collapse from 16/1 at the beginning of the week to 9/2.

Roma are available at 7/1, ahead of Sevilla and AC Milan, who are locked together at 16s.
