Joe Cullen targeted by ‘polite’ trolls who ask him to refund bets after he lost

Joe Cullen was targeted by trolls on social media who demanded he repaid their lost bets after he was beaten by Matt Campbell in a shock result.

World number 12 Cullen was beaten 6-3 by rank 62 Campbell in the round of 16 as the European Tour rolled into Belgium.

Cullen exited the European Tour at the earliest stage again for a second tournament in a row after he was beaten by Stephen Bunting last weekend.

The latest disappointment for ‘The Rockstar’ has seen him bombarded by direct messages on social media asking him to pay lost bets.

One of the messages read: “Hey Joe, horrible performance today, if you don’t like your job go find something that’ll make you happy. Lost my last 50€ on you thanks a lot mate.”

Whilst a second message that Cullen shared read: “Could you please pay this? It’s 60 euros that I have lost from betting on you. This is a Dutch trusted way to pay someone. If you don’t trust it look up “Tikkie” it’s a Dutch company. Thank you.”

Cullen shared the message on his Instagram story, saying:

“The guy (Campbell) played the best he’s ever played on a stage but…

“At least they (the trolls) was polite!!”

Cullen was well beaten on the day by the Canadian who averaged 103.49 compared to The Rockstar’s 94.32, Cullen also lost the 180 count 3-1 in a day to forget for the Bradford-born ace.

Campbell checked out an incredible 167 finish to take a 4-3 lead before he went on to win the next two legs on the bounce to qualify for the quarter-finals where he will play either Dirk van Duijvenbode or Raymond van Barneveld who play an all-Dutch round of 16 match.

The ‘Ginja Ninja’ beat Geordie hotshot Callan Rydz in his first round match and will hope to take his performance from the Cullen clash into the next round.
