LIVERPOOL host Manchester City this weekend in the ultimate top-of-the-table six-pointer.

Despite being just 11 games into the 2019-20 season, it's already painfully clear they're the only two teams in with a chance of winning the Premier League.

While they're set to do battle over 38 games – with just one lifting the trophy come May – a combined XI from both sides would be absolutely unstoppable.

Here's how that team could line up with the players fit to take to the pitch on Sunday – with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Bernardo Silva missing the cut…

GOALKEEPER

Alisson

LIVERPOOL'S No1, but more importantly for this team's sake, Brazil's No1 too – Alisson gets the nod over compatriot Ederson this time.

City will be concerned after their top stopper picked up an injury during the draw with Atalanta midweek – with Kyle Walker eventually forced to go in goal.

But Alisson, now fully fit after recovering from his injury, is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, making his place in this team all-but certain.

DEFENDERS

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, John Stones, Andy Robertson

YOU could certainly make an argument to say Liverpool have the best full-backs in the world at present, in Trent and Robertson.

Last season they fought tooth and nail to out-do each other in terms of racking up the assists – and this season they seem to be having a personal goal-scoring battle.

So strong in attack and solid in defence, it's almost embarrassing for Man City that these two cost the Reds a combined £8million with Pep Guardiola shelling out hundreds of millions on his full-backs.

In the heart of defence, Liverpool's record-buy Virgil van Dijk is a shoo-in winning a hatful of personal awards in the past few months – and is one of the favourites for the Ballon d'Or in December.

Stones just edges out the likes of Nicolas Otamendi, Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez and even converted midfielder Fernandinho to the second starting spot in defence.

Aymeric Laporte would have been a definite starter alongside VVD but for his season-ending injury.

But England man Stones has bags of potential but has seen his career stall at times through injury – but when on form, his ball-playing potential from the back-line is second to none.

And if he makes a mistake in this team, he's got Big Virg next to him to clean up…
