Man Utd legend Patrice Evra appears to leak Ballon d'Or result after congratulating Lionel Messi on win

PATRICE EVRA appears to have leaked the Ballon d'Or winner by congratulating Lionel Messi.

The Manchester United legend posted on Twitter, writing: "Congratulations to Leo Messi for winning another Ballon d'or."

Although the announcement is not due until 9pm tonight, Evra has jumped the gun.

If true, it would see Messi collect his SEVENTH Ballon d'Or and beat off challenges from the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema.

However, Evra's congratulations to Paris Saint-Germain star Messi comes as somewhat of a surprise.

In October the 40-year-old said he was 'fed up' seeing the Argentine win the award multiple times.

Evra said on Prime Video: "I'm fed up; it's rotten that they [might] give it to Leo Messi.

"In my opinion, the Ballon d'Or has to go to Jorginho or Kante.

"What are they going to tell me he did this year? Winning the Copa America, well, that's fine. But say what he did all year with Barcelona."

But one footballer who has thrown his support behind Messi collecting No7 is his PSG team-mate Sergio Ramos.

But Real Madrid fans are NOT too happy their hero is behind former Barcelona star Messi.

When asked if he wants Messi to win the Ballon d'Or, to which he answered: 'Yes, of course, I'm going to defend the guys in my team."

There were already reports swirling on social media that Messi had won the top prize.

El Chiringuito host Josep Pedrerol tweeted what could be the order of the top three, writing: "Messi, Benzema, Lewandowski…"

While Italian reporter Matte Moreno responded to speculation surrounding the award by writing: "Messi, his friends already know."
