Marcos Rojo does his best to impress Solskjaer but it is a night to forget for Chong – The Sun

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER oversaw successive wins for Manchester United on an otherwise drab night in the Europa League.

The brightest spark was Mason Greenwood, who became the club's youngest ever scorer in Europe at the age of 17.

Here are the full ratings for every player.

SERGIO ROMERO

Sharp to get out quickly and head clear on a rare Astana break early on. Largely anonymous for much of the gam eas the visitors offered little in attack. 6

DIOGO DALOT

Solid defensively, but knows he has to take these opportunities if he wants to oust Aaron Wan Bissaka from the side. His poor crossing and distribution in the attacking third counted against him. 5

PHIL JONES

Well down the pecking order, and started shakily with one error that allowed Astana in but managed to recover his ground. Settled down after that and did what he had to, without setting the world alight. 6

AXEL TUANZEBE

Knows he is back-up to Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire in the first team, but another calm and assured display. 7

MARCOS ROJO

Sent in a couple of decent crosses in the first half to show he can link up in attack from full-back. Defensively sound, and another excellent low cross deserved to be touched home by a striker in the second half, before going within a whisker of a stunning strike himself. 8

NEMANJA MATIC

A calm influence in the heart of the United midfield, trying to run things from the middle. But lacked the incisive passing needed to release his attacking team-mates in positions to cause problems. 6

FRED

Forgotten man came close to making a stunning impression with an early long-range effort which hit the bar. Busy in midfield, also saw another long-range effort well saved, and made a point to his manager he can still do a job. 7

ANGEL GOMES

Confident in himself right from the off, running directly at the defence and causing problems. A sharp turn in the box almost led to a goal in an encouraging display before being subbed. 7

TAHITH CHONG

Struggled to get into the game as the first half passed him by. Good on the ball, but looked a little lightweight when it came to the competitive side of the game before being subbed. 5

MARCUS RASHFORD

Having to shoulder the workload by starting again as the man with experience up front. Failed to convert two half chances, and was quiet after the break as United laboured to break through. 6

MASON GREENWOOD

Started brightly but will be disappointed not to hit the target with an early shot a yard wide. Always a threat and produced a moment of magic to beat his man and finally open the scoring. 7
