Oaks 2019: The tale of the tape as Pink Dogwood and Mehdaayih go head-to-head at Epsom

FRIDAY'S Oaks at Epsom looks a brilliant renewal with several exciting fillies set to lock horns.

But the two who have dominated the betting for weeks are Pink Dogwood and Mehdaayih.

Aidan O'Brien's Pink Dogwood has been well-touted by Ballydoyle, and she looked pretty smart when winning on her reappearance in the Salsabil Stakes.

The form of that race has been given a big boost, with the third Tarnawa subsequently victorious at Group 3 level.

She is certainly bred for the job, being by a Derby winner in Camelot and a sister to the Irish Derby hero Latrobe.

She has been well-supported all winter and the vibes at that she could be a bit special.

Pink Dogwood

Age: 3

Sire: Camelot

Jockey: Ryan Moore

Wins: 2

Biggest win: Listed Salsabil Stakes

Prize-money: £59,013

Cost: €380,000

Relatives: Latrobe (Irish Derby winner), Diamond Fields (Group 3 winner)

John Gosden's filly burst onto the scene with a brilliant win in the Cheshire Oaks earlier this month.

The daughter of Frankel ran a scorching time when winning at Chelmsford two starts ago and she showed that wasn't a fluke with a jaw-dropping success at Chester.

She has been supplemented for the race at a cost of £30,000, so connections must be confident of a big run.

She will get every yard of the trip and she should have the balance to cope with Epsom having won around the tight Roodee.

Mehdaayih

Age: 3

Sire: Frankel

Jockey: Rab Havlin

Wins: 3

Biggest win: Listed Cheshire Oaks

Prize-money: £53,967

Cost: N/A

Relatives: Almushahar (Group 2 winner), Escalator

VERDICT: Mehdaayih looked special when winning at Chester, but the beautifully-bred PINK DOGWOOD has been all the rage in the betting for a good couple of months and she can edge the fight.
