Premier League sides fighting it out for Kabongo Tshimanga transfer with non-league ace firing goals in for Chesterfield

NON-LEAGUE sensation Kabongo Tshimanga is attracting interest from the Premier League.

The Chesterfield striker, 24, has been in red-hot form in the National League this season with 21 goals in 22 appearances.

And SunSport understands that one Prem side has been scouting him with a view to potentially snapping him up.

Tshimanga is also being eyed up by several Championship clubs.

The MK Dons youth product made his senior debut aged 18 in 2014 before loan moves to the likes of Aldershot Town, Chelmsford City and Icelandic side Prottur.

It is only in the last few years that he has made headlines, banging in goals at Oxford City and Boreham Wood before his summer move to Chesterfield on a three-year deal.

He has already shown he can mix it with top flight sides after a starring role andthe assist for Akwasi Asante's goal in Chesterfield’s spirited 5-1 defeat at Chelsea in the FA Cup third round this month.

Tshimanga had been expected to move into the EFL last summer.

But instead he joined the Spireites for an undisclosed but 'amazing' sum.

Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter said at the time: “The fee we had set was a top League One or Championship club but that also shows the ambition of the Chesterfield manager and the faith Chesterfield have in his judgement.

"Chesterfield handled everything impeccably and their manager is very ambitious and would not let go.

"The final fee agreed is an amazing fee for a National League team, especially to get that done with a fellow National League team.”

Tshimanga's power, mobility and finishing ability have also reportedly put him on the radar of Hearts.

Robbie Neilson, boss of the third-placed Scottish Premiership side, worked with him at MK Dons.

But Peterborough have denied claims they too want Tshimanga.

Posh director of football Barry Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph on Tuesday: “I have had no contact with Chesterfield.

"I quite fancied the player when he was at Boreham Wood but he is not a target for us."
