The No. 6-ranked Federer struggled throughout the entire matchup, missing key shots against the 24-year-old upstart.
Hurkacz out-aced Federer 10 to five. Federer missed two volleys in the second set tiebreak, slipping on one gimme.
In the third set, No. 14 Hurkacz truly shined, bageling the 39-year-old. Federer continued to struggle, missing numerous forehands.
The Polish player will now face either No. 7 Matteo Berrettini or No. 16 Felix Auger-Aliassime in Friday’s semifinals.
