Solskjaer's shocking Champions League record revealed with SEVEN defeats in 11 matches in charge as he shortens for sack

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has come under fire for his poor Champions League record following Manchester United's defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils relinquished a first half lead as the 36th-minute dismissal of Aaron Wan-Bissaka proved crucial.

The hosts levelled midway through the second half and eventually completed an unlikely comeback in stoppage time after a woeful backpass from Jesse Lingard allowed Jordan Siebatcheu to nip in and score.

The defeat continues the Norwegian manager's wretched record in Europe's premier competition.

As reported by Opta, Solskjaer has now lost seven of his 11 Champions League games in charge of Man Utd.

He was beaten by PSG and twice by Barcelona in the 2018-19 campaign and lost three of United's six group games last season.

A huge 13 per cent of the Red Devils' defeats in the history of the competition have come under their current boss, despite him being in charge for less than 5 per cent of those matches.

And it is that poor European record which has contributed to bookies Labrokes slashing his odds to be sacked.

The Man Utd manager is now 2/1 to be shown the exit door before the end of the 2021-22 season.

And despite the club currently sitting top of the Premier League table, he is still 40/1 to be the first managerial sacking in the top flight.

Solskjaer took over in December 2018 following the departure of Jose Mourinho.

The Norwegian is yet to win a trophy for the English giants, missing out to Villarreal in the Europa League final last season.

Pressure has begun to mount on him to deliver silverware this year following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and most notably club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

While they have picked up 10 points from their first four league matches, the loss to Young Boys will bring back bad memories for Red Devils supporters.

United were eliminated in the group stages of the Champions League last season after defeats to Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir.
