UFC London 'AXED by Dana White with blockbuster show set to be moved to Las Vegas amid coronavirus pandemic uncertainty'

UFC boss Dana White is set to move their London event to Las Vegas due to fears over the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports.

British fighter Darren Till was due to headline in his home country against Derek Brunson at The 02 Arena on September 4.

But according to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, the UFC Fight Night event now looks to be moving back to America.

He tweeted: "The Sept. 4 UFC event — headlined by Darren Till x Derek Brunson — is close to being moved back to Las Vegas from London, sources say."

Helwani's claims do not include a reason why the event is being moved, but Low Kick MMA report it could be a response to the delta variant of coronavirus continuing to spread.

If the event is moved from London, it would be the second successive show taken away from the English capital.

London was scheduled to host a show headlined by Tyron Woodley and Leon Edwards last year, before Covid hit and disrupted those plans.

It means the UK has not welcomed a UFC show to their shores since Jorge Masvidal beat Till in 2019.

Till has struggled since he fought for the UFC Welterweight Title against Woodley in September 2018.

The Liverpudlian has lost three of his last four bouts, most recently against Robert Whittaker in July of last year.

Till's only victory in the last three years came at UFC 244 when he beat Kevin Gastelum split decision.

Meanwhile, the next two pay-per-view events – UFC 265 and 266 – will both be held in the US, with Houston and Las Vegas welcoming the blockbuster shows.

Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane will square off in Texas on August 7, before UFC 266 sees Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega go head to head on September 25.
