DAVID DE GEA could not be included on Manchester United's retained list as he has not put pen to paper on a new deal, reports claim.
The goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the month.
But he has agreed a one-year extension and has verbally agreed to stay, however his holiday has prevented the contract from being signed, according to The Athletic.
De Gea, 32, is believed to be ready to take a pay cut of around 50 per cent of the current £375,000-a-week wages he earns.
United confirmed discussions remain open with the Spaniard when announcing their retained list.
The Red Devils are still preparing for the possibility he could leave and are reportedly looking at potential replacements.

One goalkeeper they have their eye on is Andre Onana, who helped Inter Milan reach the Champions League final this season.
He also played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and would fit the way the Dutchman wants to play thanks to his impressive skill on the ball.
Chelsea also want Onana despite Mauricio Pochettino showing faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Onana has four years remaining on his contract and Inter could demand £60million to let him leave.

United have also been linked with a move for Porto keeper Diogo Costa.
The Portuguese has a release clause of £65m and could become United's no1 even if De Gea pens his contract offer.
