WWE terminates deal with Russian broadcaster Match and cuts all ties with country after invasion of Ukraine

WWE have terminated their deal with Russian broadcaster Match amid the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The wrestling company have also cut all ties with the nation following Vladimir Putin's decision to start a war in Eastern Europe.

Russian fans of WWE will no longer be able to access any form of content that the organisation puts out.

A WWE statement read: "WWE has terminated its partnership with Russian broadcaster Match and shut down WWE Network in Russia effective immediately.

"The move eliminates access in Russia to any WWE programming, including the company's weekly Raw, Smackdown and NXT shows, its on-demand library, and all of its premium live events, including WrestleMania 38."

The WWE's move comes after a number of sport's distanced themselves from Russia following the invasion.

Earlier on Thursday, Formula 1 made the decision to terminate their contract with the Russian Grand Prix.

In football, Uefa took this season's Champions League final away from St Petersburg – where it was due to be held in May.

The game will now take place in Paris at the Stade de France.

Fifa and Uefa have also suspended Russian clubs and national teams fromall competitions.

Meanwhile, Russian and Belarussian athletes have been banned from the Winter Paralympics in Beijing.

It comes after a number of countries threatened to boycott the event if the measures were not taken.
