A Place in the Sun guests opt for property in Costa Da Caparica
On the latest instalment of A Place in the Sun, fans of the Channel 4 show were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts on the property a pair of house-hunters picked in the end.
Couple Caron and Ivo journeyed to Costa Da Caparica in Portugal with presenter Laura Hamilton to look for a holiday home, which could also have the potential to be a permanent home for the pair one day.
At the top of their list of requirements was space both for Caron to fit all of her clothes and for Ivo to be able to fit his five motorbikes.
Initially the couple turned down properties that were either too small with not enough space, or in too remote an area.
With a better location in mind, Laura took them to the town centre for their fourth property, which just so happened to be located minutes from the beach.
However, Caron wasn’t too sure about the bungalow when she saw it for the first time.
“The location is perfect. It’s interesting that it’s the same price as the previous house and yet, from here, it’s tiny,” she said.
Laura tried to reassure her and outlined they would have to compromise if they wanted this kind of location: “Everything is on your doorstep, it’s what you wanted.”
“I wanted space too, though,” Caron replied.

Even though she repeatedly remarked how “tiny” it was, Caron could see some potential in it being a buy-to-rent, while Ivo suggested renting it out for a few years before knocking it down to build a bigger house.
But it didn’t appear to be the perfect property for the couple, which is why fans couldn’t believe they ultimately opted for such a small bungalow.
One viewer took to social media to say: “Looks like taxi cab office!” while someone else noted: “Disappointing! It looks like the public toilets.”
Another fan wrote: “Totally confused! She needs all the space in the world for her clothes. He’s got five motorbikes and needs a garage/gym. Buys the *smallest* house with none of the above and can’t swing a shoe in. Make it make sense.”
A fourth person added: “They chose the worst property?!”
Even Laura hadn’t expected them to pick that house. “It’s a slightly different prospect to what you were intending to buy,” she remarked.
Priced at just over £300,000, the couple decided to put in a “cheeky offer” at £25,000 below the asking price, with them ultimately closing the deal at £284,000 after some negotiations.
A Place in the Sun airs on weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4, with previous episodes available on catch-up.
