ABBA to launch brand new stage show Abba Voyage in London as they make music comeback

ABBA are making a sensational comeback with new music and a magical hologram show.

The tunes will be the first in 39 years from Dancing Queen stars Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

Meanwhile the Swedish quartet are preparing to launch a show called Abba Voyage — featuring “Abba-tars” of their younger selves beamed on stage performing their classic hits.

A source said: “Abba are finally making their comeback and plan to release their first new music in 39 years next Friday — it’s huge.”

Abba Voyage will feature a new documentary-style film, which follows their comeback from making music to the creation of a purpose-built theatre in East London for the Holograms show, which is due to open next May.

The source said: “Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Frid will all be there on the opening night.

“And they will finally unveil their Abba-tars, which are like holograms of themselves.

“The show will feature the Abba-tars performing and speaking to the audience. It will be like taking a step back in time for those watching.

“Fans should hold on to their hats because this is going to be one wild ride.”

Björn, 76, Benny, 74, Agnetha, 71, and Anni-Frid, 75, have teamed up with Pop Idol mastermind Simon Fuller to bring the idea to life.

The plans have been in place since 2019 but were hampered by the pandemic.

The source added: “Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Frid have been waiting for this moment for so long, they’re pinching themselves.”

ABBA became one of the most successful pop acts in history after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo.

They have sold more than 500 million records.

The stage show based on their music, Mamma Mia!, is performed worldwide and the 2008 film adaptation made more than £600million.
