AJ Odudu has set a new Strictly Come Dancing record.

The TV presenter performed the house down on Saturday night's show alongside her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington.

After receiving praise from the judges, it was revealed that the couple had secured a score of nine a piece from Shirley Ballas and new judge Anton du Beke.

The good news didn't end there as their incredible total score of 34 out of 40 points saw the couple climb to the top of the leaderboard.

The duo were additionally informed by host Claudia Winkleman that their routine marked "the first time Shirley has ever given a nine in week one", setting a new Strictly record.

"I am absolutely gobsmacked," AJ said following the score reveal.
