Emmerdale fans will know that the popular ITV soap is turning 50 this October, which means that we can expect the drama in the Dales to ramp up even further in celebration.
A number of current storylines are set to be heavily featured during the big anniversary month, one of which involves Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).
The teen has recently revealed that she is pregnant, and that her pregnancy is further along than people thought.
This leads us to wonder, could a certain birth be set to occur during the 50th birthday celebrations?
Producers Jane Hudson and Kate Brooks were giving nothing away regarding the birth of the child, but they did hint that Amelia would be heavily involved in the special episodes.
‘Amelia is due soon. Whether or not she has the baby in the 50th celebration I’m obviously not going to tell you.’ Jane teased.
‘Amelia does play a very big part in the storm and she needs to be found because she’s stuck on her own. So she does play a very big part.’
She also explained that the story was far from over, as Emmerdale returns to its roots of classic family drama.
‘Going forward we have the brilliantness of the Dingles against the Spencers against everybody for some fantastic, proper family rows that are going to take place between them. There are some brilliant scenes coming up, so that story’s got a lot of legs still.’
Fellow actor Katherine Dow Blyton, who plays police-officer-turned-vicar-turned-police-officer-again Harriet, praised the young actress for her work on the soap recently.
‘Daisy has been amazing over the last few episodes. She’s absolutely knocking it out of the park.’
With Amelia lost and alone in the middle of what is shaping up to be a dramatic storm, will she make it out unharmed?
Jane revealed that there are set to be injuries caused throughout the storm, so could Amelia be one of them?
‘It’s a storm. It would be a crazy storm if nobody was injured. It’s not a storm in a teacup, it’s a storm in our village!’
We’re left with a lot of speculation regarding the storyline, but there is one thing that we’re sure of: there’s going to be no shortage of chaos in the Emmerdale village.
