Andrew Neil hasn’t been seen in a presenting role on GB News ever since he took a “break” just two weeks after the channel launched in June. Following his departure, albeit initially on a temporary basis, GB News colleague Colin Brazier stepped in – only to be made a permanent host in the primetime 8pm slot last month. And now, it’s been reported that a “rift” between Neil and management on the channel will lead to the veteran broadcaster officially stepping away from the network altogether.

According to the Telegraph, Neil is expected to quit GB News after disagreements with senior members of management.

Neil had said to fans in his last appearance on his self-titled show he was taking a break and would be back before the summer was out.

However, it’s been reported a return to the network this month has been axed.

The publication states sources have claims Neil and chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos have “failed to set aside their differences”.

Express.co.uk has contacted GB News and Andrew Neil’s representatives for comment.

It was believed Neil would be back to front the 8pm primetime slot after Alastair Stewart had been standing in for Brazier for the past week.

However, Brazier confirmed on Twitter he will return to deliver the latest headlines on Monday instead.

Upon hearing the reports, a number of GB News viewers expressed their disappointment, with many keen to see the former BBC man back at the helm.

“GBNEWS is bigger than one person & any void will be filled. Personally I hope Andrew Neil comes back,” one fan said on Twitter.

A second added: “@afneil was a big part of my reason for switching to @GBNEWS. Without Andrew I will have to reconsider my loyalties and options. Anyone else feeling the same?”

“@GBNEWS will always be @afneil ‘s baby,” weighed in a third. “But they have stuck true to their word & do represent the majority of us.

“They have great quality presenters & I think each one has proved to be an asset. My loyalty remains firm.”

Biden: Taliban ‘pulling all the shots’ says Andrew Neil

While a fourth argued: “It’s not all about Andrew. Colin, Alastair, Simon etc are all some of the greatest also!

“They have been in the business just as long as him and are very well respected. It’s a shame I agree, but he has proven he doesn’t give a t**s anymore.”

Neil did make a brief return to GB News in August where he appeared on Nigel Farage’s self-titled show.

Joining via video link, Neil and Farage discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan as the Taliban regained power.

Neil blasted President Joe Biden for the way the USA has withdrawn prior to the Taliban’s resurgence.

However, Neil failed to discuss his tenure on the channel or if he’d be returning.

GB News starts daily at 6am with The Great British Breakfast.
