BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay swipes at producers for showing 'inappropriate' pic in middle of interview | The Sun

BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay was forced to step in after an x-rated wildlife photo was shown live on air during the programme that airs well before the 9pm watershed.

On this morning’s show Jon, 53, and his co-presenter, Sally Nugent, were interviewing wildlife photographers Charlie Page and Billy Evans-Freke.

The pair had won big at the year’s British Wildlife Photography awards and were discussing the winning picture in the Animal Behaviour category.

The winner was Hitching a Lift by James Roddie that showed three toads appearing to leap frog over each other.

As the image flashed up on the screen Jon joked: "I'm not sure we should show that picture before 9pm, actually, but yeah.”

Given the position of the reptiles, and the piggy back stance, it could be interpreted as something more intimate.

Broadcasters are held to strict standards and anything that might contain violent or sexual content can not air before 9pm.

Jon and Sally spoke to Billy who was awarded the Young British Wildlife Photographer of the Year gong in the 15-17 year old category for his photo, Branching out, of a tawny owl perched on a branch.

Meanwhile Charlie was celebrating his win in the Urban Wildlife category with his photo of a fox in a deforested area.

Jon, couldn’t resisting cracking another joke today. While encouraging viewers to get in touch via WhatsApp, Sally added: "And of course, you can still get in touch by email and Twitter as well.”
