BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty shut down by Strictly star over ‘unfair question’

Strictly Come Dancing winner Jowita Przystal shut down BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty's "unfair question" during the latest episode of the morning show.

The 48-year-old presenter was back on the famous red sofa on Thursday (September 28) with co-host Charlie Stayt and they woke up the nation with the latest news headlines. They welcomed dancer Jowita and her celebrity partner Jody Cundy to the studio to discuss their experience in the BBC competition so far.

Jowita was crowned winner of the 2022 series of Strictly as she guided Countyfrile's Hamza Yassin to victory and she's hoping to do the same this year with Paralympian Jody.

During their chat, Naga said: "This is probably an unfair question but I'll ask it anyway. How does he compare to how Hamza was in the early days. Jowita replied: "I cannot compare them because they're two different people and I will never do that. I said it's a new book , new page and we're riding it together and there's no on else there. It's just me and Jodi and I'm focused on Jodi because our journey is now and here just us together."

Charlie replied: "A very diplomatic answer" while Naga added: "Although Jody will ask you over and over again 'Am I as good', well I would anyway." It comes after Jody praised his fiancée for being an "instrumental party" in his Strictly journey. They danced the Quickstep during Saturday's (September 23) first live show.

He told RadioTimes.com: ""I have my fiancée and her mum, they're coming down to support. They're really excited. Lucy has kind of been a really instrumental part in this. She's been helping us or holding the fort at home while I've been away dancing in the studio. It's nice for her to be able to come out, get all glammed up and come and watch the Strictly show."

Jody explained his fiancée's mother is a "huge fan" of Strictly, and is "really excited" to see him dance on the famed dance floor. "It's going to be nice to go out there and perform for them," he added. Jowita and Jody came 11th on the leaderboard with 21 points out of a possible 40.

Former EastEnders bad boy Nigel Harman and his partner Katya Jones topped the board with 32 points and actress Ellie Leach, actor Bobby Braxer, West End star Layton Williams and Sherlock star Amanda Abbington all came joint second place with a score of 29.
