BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Angela Scanlon sobs detailing reason exit ‘stings’

It Takes Two: Angela Scanlon says her Strictly exit ‘stings’

Irish broadcaster Angela Scanlon broke down in tears during her appearance on the Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two on Monday evening.

The appearance comes after the Strictly judges chose to save Layton Williams following this weekend’s instalment of the BBC dance programme.

Angela was joined on the It Takes Two sofa by her professional partner Carlos Gu to discuss their time on Strictly and watch their highlight reel back.

However, Angela was soon reduced to tears when she was watching her best bits played back and was comforted by an emotional Carlos.

Angela, 39, went on to detail why being sent home at the weekend by the judges felt like such a “sting”.

The mum-of-two explained to host Fleur East: “You can have a steady road, either middle of the road, or you can have quite a smooth journey and I have always felt those ups and downs are better for you to feel things deeply.”

She tearfully continued: “The Argentine Tango in Blackpool Week, which is possibly why it stings so bad to come home a week later, felt like a real moment.”

Continuing to cry, Carlos wrapped his arm around Angela as Fleur asked if he wanted to pay tribute to her following their time on the BBC show together.

Before he answered the question, a visibly upset Angela warned him: “Don’t tip me over the edge!”

Carlos replied: “I am so lucky to have met her in my life, we are not only physically connected, I feel like we are soulmates.”

He added: “I’m never really this sad, I usually laugh all the time… But we had a ball and we had the greatest time in my life. Every single second in the training was such joy and such a laugh.”

It Takes Two viewers headed to Twitter to comment on the emotional interview, with one fan writing: “How stunning is @angelascanlon on #ItTakesTwo tonight! Apart from their beautiful hair and green sequined dress, I love her attitude and desire to be a good role model for her daughter’s = no need to fake tan, you can achieve anything with hard work. She’s great! #Strictly.” (sic)
