Clint Eastwood has been working in the film industry since 1954 and shows no sign of stopping. The 91-year-old has been more focused on directing Hollywood movies in recent years. Although he occasionally returns to star in his films, most notably Gran Torino and The Mule.
Now in his 10th decade, Eastwood returns to acting in his latest directorial effort Cry Macho, which saw its trailer released today.
Based on the novel by N Richard Nash, the synopsis reads: “The film stars Eastwood as Mike Milo, a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1979, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home from Mexico.
“Forced to take the backroads on their way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman finds unexpected connections and his own sense of redemption.”
Cry Macho, which is released in UK cinemas on November 12, 2021, co-stars Eduardo Minett, as the young boy Rafo, in his feature film debut.
Back in 2016, Tom Hanks starred in Eastwood’s Sully about the pilot who saved 155 lives as he landed a plane in the Hudson River back in 2009.
Appearing on the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show, the Hollywood actor said how Eastwood’s experience starring as Rowdy Yates on Rawhide has severely influenced how he directs.
Hanks said: “He had all these directors there, who directed movies, who made a big deal about yelling ‘Action’.
“Every time they would do that, the horses they were on would bolt.”

Hanks went on to explain that actors could be startled just as easily as horses, so Eastwood treats them as such.
He continued: “When you’re in a Clint Eastwood movie, you don’t know the camera’s rolling, and you hear over your shoulder, ‘All right, go ahead.’
“You just keep doing it until you hear him say, ‘That’s enough of that.’ And then you move on to the next setup. It’s intimidating as hell.”
Eastwood was born on May 31, 1930 and rose to fame starring as The Man With No Name in Sergio Leone’s Dollars Trilogy of Spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s, while he played Dirty Harry across five movies during the 1970s and 1980s.
