Beth and Marco to get closer in tonight's episode

The Underworld machinist played by Lisa George landed herself into plenty of trouble when it was revealed that she had slapped Hope Stape before bribing the girl into staying quiet.

Her relationship with her partner Kirk Sutherland (portrayed by Andy Whyment) was left on the rocks by the incident and the packer nearly called it quits.

However, matters could go from bad to worse between them as Beth recently got in touch with her former boyfriend Marco.

This week, Beth agrees to meet him again as he wants to organise a school reunion.

Glenda Shuttleworth sees right through Marco and warns Beth to steer well clear.

Yet Beth decides to ignore her advice and she meets in a hotel bar with Marco.

She soon realises she should have listened to Glenda instead of being stubborn.

Coronation Street worked hard to make sure acid attack story was accurate

Coronation Street has worked closely with Loose Women star Katie Piper and her charitable foundation in order to tell the story with senstivity and care.

Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) have also been assisting in the show's portrayal of the shocking act.

The harrowing episode will air tonight at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.

What is Katie Piper doing now?

Katie Piper is now a best-selling international author, inspirational speaker, TV presenter and charity founder.

Since re-building her life after the attack, Katie established a charity, the Katie Piper Foundation, aimed at raising awareness of the plight of victims of burns and other disfigurement injuries.

In May 2018 Katie filmed Famous and Fighting Crime for Channel 4, a show in which celebrities get a taste of life as an emergency services worker.

Katie has also appeared on daytime favourites This Morning and Loose Women.

She also presented the Channel 4 show Bodyshockers and Never Seen a Doctor.

In April 2017, the inspirational star launched her own Channel 4 show called Face to Face, featuring other acid attack survivors and people with skin conditions.

In spring 2018, she toured the country with her theatre show What's In My Head to share her inspirational story.

She has written many books including Beautiful, Beautiful Ever After, Confidence, Things Get Better and From Mother to Daughter.

She was awarded an OBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours list in recognition of her services to charity and burns survivors.

Katie now has her own Breakfast show on ITV, which began on Sunday, August 6, 2022.

Corrie actor reveals why Justin commits horror acid attack

Speaking ahead of tonight's shocking episode, Justin actor Andrew Still has opened up about why he thinks the twisted soap character commits the act.

He said: "His thought process would be… it has hurt his pride, his ego, it's piling on top of this misplaced anger over his mum.

"He's jealous about the wedding. Daisy has got Daniel, she's got the rest of her life to look forward to whereas his world is crumbling around him.

"After, I think he's gonna make all sorts of excuses to justify in his head why he's done this, but this is a total act of hate. There is no love in this, it is definitely an act of hate."

Corrie actor opens up about harrowing acid attack storyline

Andrew Still, who plays Justin in the hit soap, has opened up about playing a character who commits a vicious acid attack.

He said: "I was shocked. I had no idea it was gonna go that far and I was a little intimidated because it's such an awful crime. You really wanna do it justice and give it the seriousness it deserves."

He further admitted he felt "disgusting" having to read out the vile lines his character said to Daisy and but admitted he was glad to be working on such a big story.

Speaking in depth, the Corrie newbie said: "It was fun, but it was pretty grim. Everyone was brilliant and gave it the respect the story needed.

"It felt really disgusting to give those lines and go through that action. It's a hateful, nasty thing to do. If you are gonna play it truthfully you have to deal with those emotions. It was horrible and hopefully, that translates on screen."

What happened to Katie Piper's attackers?

The attack was caught on CCTV and shortly after Sylvestre, who threw the acid at Katie, was arrested.

Later Lynch was arrested and the pair were both handed life sentences.

In 2018, his plea to the parole board received a positive response.

Sylvestre was released on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Sylvestre was recalled to prison 13 months later, but was then cleared of taking vehicles without consent and a parole board said he could go free again in 2020.

In November 2018 it was revealed that Lynch had been awarded nearly £200,000 of taxpayer's cash in legal aid.

On October 10, 2022, police announced they were urgently searching for Stefan Sylvestre, who is currently on the run after being recalled to prison for breaching the conditions of his licence.

A Probation Service spokesman said: “We are urgently working with the police to bring the offender back to prison where he’ll face longer behind bars.”
