Congratulations are in order for Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine, who has welcomed her third child.
The actress, who plays Fiz Stape, left the ITV soap in scenes which aired in May to go on maternity leave, following news that she was pregnant.
The 49-year-old has now shared news of her baby arrival via a new interview on Monday (August 28), revealing that she actually gave birth in April but decided to keep it quiet for a little while longer.
‘I’m so aware of how precious this time is and just how quickly it goes,’ she told OK! Magazine on the arrival of her little bundle of joy. ‘It’s chaos, though. I mean, it was chaos before but now it’s another level!’
Admitting to the publication that choosing a name was a ‘big conversation’ for she and husband of six years Chris Farr, Jennie revealed that they ultimately decided on Doris.
‘Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda’ she added. ‘They’re also all very ‘Corrie’.
‘The actress who played the first Rovers landlady, Annie Walker, was called Doris Speed so there’s obviously something in my DNA that means these baby names keep happening!’
Corrie has temporarily written Jennie’s character Fiz out of the show in Jennie’a absence, sending her down to Norfolk.
Fiz accepted a job as an Underworld supervisor after being offered the opportunity by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).
While the job boasted a salary of double what Fiz was already earning, it sadly meant moving away and leaving her family behind.
Husband Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), however, was quick to encourage her to take the position and therefore Fiz departed the cobbles in May.
