Coronation Street star Liam McCheyney has paid a touching tribute to his former co-star Chris Gascoyne after his star-studded leaving party on the ITV cobbles.
The beloved actor announced he will be leaving Weatherfield back in October after more than 23 years on the show. After years on the long-running soap, his co-stars couldn’t let the actor go without a proper send off.
This week, the cast and crew surprised the 55-year-old soap star bid a final farewell to the cast and crew in the star-studded party. After a well-deserved knees-up, the Dylan Wilson star shared a gushing tribute to the actor online.

The blond hunk, who plays Sean Tully’s son on to show, led the tributes as fans cherish their final few weeks of the TV star in Weatherfield. The young star beamed as he gave his co-star a huge hug alongside his Caitlin Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton.
He wrote: “I’m gonna miss you, Chris. Chris always taught me to try things and experiment. That’s the best way you learn. We all wish you the best for the future.”
It was at this point that fans flooded to the comments to share their love for the actor and how much they would miss him on the show. One user penned: “He’s passed on the baton. Glad you’ve grabbed it with both hands.”
Another agreed: “You will be sorely missed Chris” as a third echoed: “I am going to miss you Chris and lovely picture of you all. Good luck for the future.”
It is understood that Chris will be written out of the show over the Christmas period. But won’t need to worry for long because ITV bosses made sure to leave the door open for him to return again in the future.
Chris explained: “It was Iain [MacLeod], the producer, who told me and I was not expecting it that's for sure. But I was pleased and I was keen to see how the story would pan out.
“When I read it, I loved that it kind of came out of nowhere. Hopefully it was not something that the audience was expecting. They knew that Peter was angry and was looking for Stephen, but although he had tried to beat him up at the flat, I don't think anyone saw that last moment coming until it happened.

"Peter was one of the few people who was not on the street at that point and then he came out of nowhere." Fans will have to stay tuned to watch Peter’s emotional exit and how Clara will cope without her husband.
