Over the first two weekends, the 12 contestants on the lineup of Dancing on Ice performed in two separate groups. Coronation Street legend Sally Dyenvor, impressed judges with her first performance in week one, skating to Billy Joel classic She’s Always A Woman. The soap star, who plays Weatherfield stalwart Sally Metcalfe, had no intention of stepping down from her Weatherfield role amid her appearance on the ITV skating show. In an interview with Express.co.uk and other press, the actress has confessed how juggling both practises can be “tricky”.

Sally explained: Yeah, it’s a bit tricky trying to find the ice time around Coronation Street but yeah, we’ve managed to do it.

“It’s been absolutely fine, you know, I’ve got Matt [Evers],” she gushed.

“He’s very experienced, so I’m really lucky to have him and we’ve worked really hard together.

“It’s just a little journey and I’m enjoying every moment of it.”

Later, the MBE spoke about her Corrie co-stars who have showered her with support since her journey on the ice began.

She told Express: “Everyone has been really supportive.”

“Looking at my daughter [in the soap], Brooke Vincent who did it a few years ago after watching all her YouTubes videos, it just inspires me.

“I’m just really excited to give it a go and see what happens.

A doubtful Sally added: “I’m certainly not going to win but I’m definitely going to enjoy the experience.”

Dancing on Ice have tried to tempt the Corrie star onto the rink for years, and ITV bosses have finally succeeded.

However, Sally’s time in the competition almost came to an end when the 58-year-old actor admitted she was thinking about throwing in the towel before the competition’s opening episode of series 13 on Sunday.

In a heartbreaking video clip of her training session with Matt, Sally broke down in tears as she said: “I don’t think I can do this.”

Moments after, an under confident Sally blew judges away with her touching routine, as she glided elegantly across the ice.

The camera caught an emotional Antony Cotton, Sally’s ITV castmate, holding back his tears after her skating debut.

Unfortunately for rugby player Ben Foden, he was the first celebrity voted off in the competition after a gruelling skate-off against TV presenter Ria Hebden.

In the show’s very first 2022 elimination judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo decided which celebrity they’d like to see skate again after the couples had taken to the ice.

Sadly, it has been reported BMX racer Kye Whyte will not be taking part over the weekend after an injury he sustained has forced him to step down.

The professional racer had sprained his knee after falling on the ice during rehearsals.

An ITV spokesperson said: “During rehearsals for this Sunday’s show, Kye fell on the ice and sustained an injury and will therefore not perform in this weekend’s show.”

While Kye said: “It’s an unfortunate accident. I’ve trained and worked hard with Tippy to perform this weekend.

“For me, as an athlete, I’m used to stuff like this happening where you get injured and can’t compete.”

Dancing on Ice airs Sunday on ITV at 6.30pm
