This year to celebrate the Queen’s record breaking 70-year reign, British soaps have put on a ball for this year’s Platinum Jubilee.

Here is a dive into how Britain's most loved serial dramas have commemorated the special occasion.

Most excitingly, EastEnders viewers were treated to a special cameo from Prince Charles and Camilla who casually popped to Walford to celebrate alongside Albert Square residents including Sharon Watts, Mick Carter and Martin Fowler.

The exciting cameo was filmed all the way back in March earlier this year, when the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall made a trip to visit the set.

They went to Elstree, where EastEnders is filmed and met members of the cast.

While they were there, the two filmed their exciting cameo appearance ahead of the Jubilee bank holiday weekend kicking off on Friday 3 June.

The hour-long episode is expected to air on Thursday 2 June in which Mick Carter will throw a Jubilee bash for residents.

Everyone on Albert Square will participate in the street party, to celebrate the Queen’s momentous occasion.

Residents were left in utter shock as the two Royal guests emerge as a surprise. In the episode, the couple were greeted by Mick and Linda Carter.

Speaking to the BBC, Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter said: “They have never done anything like this before. They didn’t know what to expect!”

She went on to say: “I just hope that they enjoyed it as much as we did.”

During the special visit, Camilla told actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, that she voted for her when she starred on Strictly Come Dancing. Rose, who plays Frankie Lewis on EastEnders, said it was completely “mind-blowing” to have the Duchess of Cornwall’s support.

Prince Charles received a round of applause for kindly placing his jacket across actress Letitia Dean’s shoulders, as it was a particularly chilly March morning.

Letita plays Sharon Watts, and she presented the Prince of Wales with an Albert Square street sign, with all the signatures of the cast alongside Steve McFadden who plays the infamous Phil Mitchell.

In Coronation Street, the week has been foucsed on the feud between Abi and Imran which resulted in a tragic car crash.

Imran died following the crash and police are now trying to get to the bottom of what exactly happened.

Despite all the drama, producers have made sure to involve the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations on the Cobbles.

ITV bosses have said: “On Coronation Street there are various references to the Jubilee, and we see decorations being put up in different locations, but the dramatic events of the week take over for the residents,” with the main focus being on Abi and Imran’s feud.

Over in Emmerdale, while the drama doesn't centre around the Jubilee itself, there will be plenty of references to it this week.

Bosses said: "Emmerdale will show a reference to the Platinum Jubilee, Brenda has themed the cafe for the Jubilee and is busy pushing her wares on any customers.

“She has also put up a banner outside. It's more visual but she does have things like Coronation Chicken and her Jubilee cake on the menu.”

One of the biggest storylines this week has been Noah’s trial date, after mum Charity Dingle discovered his creepy obsession with Chloe and called the police.
