Linda (played by Kellie Bright) is currently pregnant with Max’s (Jake Wood) baby, but only her husband Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and daughter Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) know the truth. But with the EastEnders family set to struggle to keep the secret in upcoming episodes of the BBC soap, it seems likely that Linda will want an escape from the effort of living a lie. Linda’s departure from Walford is also on the cards because actress Kellie is pregnant, meaning the soap will be forming a temporary exit story. When she gets contact from Max in future scenes, will she run off to be with him?

Linda will be celebrating her birthday in an upcoming episode, and she’s surprised to get a present from Max, clocking the postmark.

Nobody else has heard from him since he disappeared with his granddaughter Abi, who is supposed to live with adoptive mother Rainie.

But after Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) took her to visit Max in Spain, the latter decided to make a move with the youngster in tow, covering his tracks.

Mick’s daughter Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) suggests a party, but Linda declines.

However, determined to give her a chance to celebrate, Frankie forges ahead regardless.

She invites Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and her newly on-the-scene dad Rocky (Brian Conley), but leaves out Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

Sonia realises Frankie’s playing cupid with Rocky and Shirly Carter (Linda Henry) and warns Kathy.

Mick and Linda agree it’s too risky to tell Rainie that Max sent a gift from Croatia.

When they return home, they’re horrified that Frankie’s thrown Linda two parties in one, drawing unwanted attention to her pregnancy.

As Jack arrives, Mick and Linda have to decide to tell Jack what they’ve found out.

Meanwhile, Shirley and Rocky are sharing a laugh, but he’s smitten when Kathy shows up.

Linda later tells a baffled Frankie she’s not happy about the surprise party, but Frankie is oblivious to the truth of the pregnancy.

Nancy tells her mum she owes Frankie an apology – she thinks it’s time Frankie and Shirley knew that Max is the father of the baby so confusion is avoided, but Linda refuses.

Wanting to remain under the radar in the square, Linda might take drastic action to avoid speculation and suspicious behaviour.

With her opting to keep Max’s gift a secret initially, could Linda use the information to run off and join him?

Uniting with Max would mean she’d finally be able to tell him about the baby, as he is currently unaware she is carrying his child following their affair last year.

But it would also give her a chance to escape facing up to the truth at Walford and with the rest of the family.

With actress Kellie set to take a break from the soap to go on maternity leave any time now, could this be Linda’s escape route from Albert Square?

Although she and Mick are a firm favourite when it comes to EastEnders couples, the two have faced some difficulties adjusting to the pregnancy.

If Mick continues to find it too hard to support his wife, this would give Linda more reason to leave.

Running off to Spain could be a chance for Linda to start afresh after a few difficult years on the square.

But with an exit sealed for the character, when could Linda put her plan into action?

EastEnders continues on Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC.
