Violet (played by Gwen Taylor) will join EastEnders later this month and will arrive in Albert Square in the run-up to Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Callum Highway’s (Tony Clay) wedding. The two men will be hoping she won’t stick around for long but it seems Violet has other ideas as she drops a bombshell on her grandsons.
Vi is set to ruffle a few feathers and she has no qualms in making the likes of Ben Mitchell squirm.
She hasn’t spent much time with her grandsons, Callum and Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ), although she is looking forward to getting to know them better.
But, is she hiding something from her past?
Actress Gwen is known for her many television roles, ranging from playing Amy Pearce in Duty Free to Rita Simcock in A Bit of a Do.

She has also had roles in Casualty, Doc Martin, Coronation Street and Midsomer Murders, as well as Table 12, Born and Bred and Fat Friends.
Speaking about taking on the character of Violet, Gwen began: “I remember when the first episodes of EastEnders launched and I was desperate to be in it, now after all these years, here I am playing a wonderful character.
“It’s fantastic and the cast are great, everybody has treated me so well and I feel extremely welcome.”
Jon Sen, executive producer of the BBC soap, added: “Having Gwen join the show is an honour, she’s the perfect actress to play the multi-faceted Violet Highway, a grandmother not to be messed with.
“Stuart and Callum are sure to find this out the hard way when she arrives in Walford for Callum’s big day and they’ll no doubt be wanting her visit to be fleeting but Violet definitely has other ideas.
“We welcome Gwen to Walford and look forward to the audience watching her make her mark.”
Elsewhere in the square loveable rogue Stuart Highway could be set to unleash his anger and kill Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) in upcoming scenes on the BBC soap as he discovers Mick Carter’s heartbreaking past.

One of Stuart’s oldest friends Mick (Danny Dyer) has been reliving the horrific child abuse he was put through by Katy Lewis (Simone Labhib).
Stuart and Rainie (Tanya Franks) are somewhat sceptical about how their friends seem stronger than ever but they soon discover why when the former begins to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
DI Pines tells Mick they have arrested Katy and the authorities are going to make an appeal for more survivors to come forward.
When the undertaker hears a woman has been arrested for historical child abuse offences, he realises this is why Mick has been acting so mysteriously lately.
Though, the pub landlord isn’t the only one concerned about the news of Katy’s arrest as his daughter becomes angry that everyone will find out about what her mother did.
The youngster is unaware that Stuart is listening in and he is shocked to discover Frankie is the child abuser’s daughter.
Later scenes will show Mick’s daughter meeting the undertaker at the car lot office but things take a terrifying turn.
Will Stuart end up killing Katy’s daughter in order to enact revenge on the child abuser?
EastEnders is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
