Emma destroyed in EastEnders as she discovers Lola is going to die

Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) was rocked to the core in EastEnders as she discovered that Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) is terminally ill.

The newcomer, who is Lola’s biological mum, made the discovery just shortly after speaking to her daughter, albeit under the guise of a customer, for the first time since she was three-years-old.

Lola, as viewers know, was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour last year, after winding up in hospital following a series of seizures and dizzy spells.

The hairdresser has resolved to live every moment with her loved ones and even contemplated tracking down her mum – who left her when she was a baby – before it’s too late.

Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) took it upon himself to do that for her, locating Emma’s place of work and pleading with her to come to the wedding.

Emma refused, but she’s been unable to stop thinking her daughter ever since, and thus turned up at the salon to book an appointment – asking for Lola specifically.

Lola was pleased to have had a client ask for her by name, and she failed to recognise Emma, who was going by the name of Nicole.

The two got along nicely, but Lola, struggling with her symptoms, felt a bit dizzy and thus Denise Fox (Diane Parish) took over, explaining to Emma that Lola is having health problems.

Emma, upset, made a swift exit – and left a big tip – before going to her car where she did some research and watched Lola’s vlogs, realising that her daughter is terminally ill.

Will she reveal who she is in the hopes of building a relationship with Lola before it’s too late?

EastEnders continues Thursday February 2 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
