Emmerdale's Lydia Dingle caught shouting at Sam by a shocked Chas Dingle

EMMERDALE’S Lydia Dingle gets caught shouting at husband Sam by a very shocked Chas Dingle.

The character is currently facing a huge decision about whether to get tested for the Huntington gene.

Fans of Emmerdale already know that Lydia's father died from Huntington's disease and there's a 50% chance that she could develop the condition herself.

Actress Karen Blick, who stars as Lydia, shared details of the character’s emotional heart-to-heart with Chas next week.

Speaking about the upcoming scenes, Karen explained: “Lydia decides to do a fundraiser for local charities. She feels like she should give something back to the community and to charities that might be struggling.

“Sam says he'll invite all the charities, but unfortunately there's a bit of a mix-up and Lydia ends up having a go at Sam, really shouting at him.

“Chas witnesses this. She's never seen Lydia behave like that towards Sam, so she's a bit shocked.

"Chas just finds an opportunity to talk. She's a sounding board and she gives Lydia a bit of time and space. Chas opens questions to explore what's been going on for Lydia and what she might want to do in the future."

Lydia has been urged by her husband Sam, played by James Hooton, to get tested so they could discover the truth either way.

Although Lydia hasn’t made a decision yet, next week's episodes will see Chas offer her support and someone to talk to.

Karen explains that Chas asks Lydia questions that help her come to the realisation of what the best course of action is, without actually telling her.

She said: “Usually in life if somebody tells you what to do, you tend to be a bit reactionary. But Chas asks questions around the issue without pointing the finger and without having a go at Lydia.

"She creates a nice space for a good conversation and understands as well. Chas understands what a massive thing it is for Lydia to be carrying that on her own."
