Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) suffered a debilitating stroke last March on Emmerdale and the character has been receiving physiotherapy for months. In recent episodes, the chef shared how much he has been missing working at The Woolpack. ITV soap spoilers have now revealed Marlon will be back in the kitchen in upcoming scenes.

In episodes yet to air, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) welcome chef Marlon back to the village pub.

He applied for a job after learning Charity was having to hire another full-time chef.

Naomi Anderson (Karene Peter) becomes delighted when Marlon offers her a job as his assistant at The Woolpack.

Meanwhile, Marlon’s wife Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) appears pleased to see her husband back in his element.

However, has Marlon decided to return to work too soon?

Marlon has come on leaps and bounds with his recovery in recent months after marrying Rhona in August.

Despite needing a wheelchair, he summoned the strength to stand at the altar to make his vows to Rhona.

The emotional scenes in the hour-long special moved viewers to tears and fans have been rooting for Marlon to make a full recovery.

Marlon actor Mark addressed the character’s lengthy recovery with Express.co.uk earlier this year.

He shared: “The only thing I can talk about in terms of Marlon is his progress. He is making a slow amount of progress.”

“They [the writers] have had to be consistent with this and have a very realistic timespan,” he explained.

“They don’t want to do it quickly, they want it to be real and we are lucky as a soap that we can do that and take that time with it.”

“It’s a big responsibility to tell a story like this so they ought to be doing it over a realistic period of time which could be months or even years,” he added.

Will Marlon ever be able to make a full recovery or has he taken on too much too soon?

Zoe and Marlon’s relationship has been going strong since they tied the knot in St Mary’s Church this summer, but could it be about to hit the rocks?

Mark said their relationship could end “next week”, but stressed how “right now they are as solid as a couple could be”.

Marlon’s return to work will be a test for the pair in upcoming scenes on the serial drama.

Christmas is an extremely busy time of year for chefs, so let’s hope Marlon can deal with the pressure.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
