Fuming A Place in the Sun viewers ‘turn off show’ because of ‘annoying’ pet dog

A Place in the Sun viewers were outraged when a considerable amount of screen time was devoted to talking about a couple's pet dog.

In Tuesday's episode of the Channel 4 show (May 11) Laura Whitmore was tasked with finding a two-bedroom property in Greece for Kathryn and Mark – as well as their pooch Dixie.

The couple had a rather tight budget of £80,000 and wanted to make sure Dixie had enough room and the possibility of enjoying the outdoors, which meant Laura mentioned the pooch's name dozens of times throughout the episode.

Just minutes in, viewers at home believed they had suffered enough and moaned about the dog on Twitter.

One viewer blasted: "I love dogs… I hate Dixie!"

Someone else quipped: "If they had a Euro for every time Dixie was mentioned they could afford a large villa."

Meanwhile, someone else claimed they were irritated enough to stop watching and tweeted: "Had enough of Dixie and turned it off."

Posting an eye-rolling emoji, another person commented: "I'm not sure that I can stand this today with all of the Dixie mentions."

Someone else asked: "Is anyone counting how many times Dixie gets a mention?

"I might watch it back to count, but then again I probably won't."

At the end of the show, Kathryn and Mark fell in love with property five which was a two-bedroom house in the Kassandra Peninsula that also had a separate annex for guests.

They noticed the property was sloping and Laura admitted there had been issues with "movement" which was why the price had been reduced to near the couple's budget.

She told Kathryn and Mark the owner had dealt with the structural problem but they decided to make a cheeky offer of £70,000 in light of the issue.

The owner refused and so they went up to £75,000, but it was again turned down for the time being.

Mark said: "The offer remains on the table."

"I don't think you've heard the last from that," Laura agreed.
