King Charles ‘practising Coronation in the palace’
The countdown to King Charles’s Coronation is well and truly on, with the Coronation taking place at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
Other celebrations, such as the Coronation concert, which will feature musical acts such as Lionel Richie, Take That, Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli, will be shown across the weekend.
ITV has announced a schedule shake-up when it comes to their morning news show, Good Morning Britain, which will see a special edition air on the Saturday to coincide with the King’s Coronation.
Making the announcement on Thursday’s show, newsreader Charlotte Hawkins revealed: “We will be out and about and capture all the excitement. All the build up to this historical event.”
Kate Garraway echoed this excitement, adding: “We will! It will be so exciting. It will be a wonderful event.
“We are lucky to be a part of it and then I’m going to a street party so I get to see it from angles which will be great.”
From 6am, the one-off special episode of the show will see the entire Good Morning Britain team have every vantage point of the Coronation covered.
Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard will be live from Westminster Abbey, while Ranvir Singh will be stationed outside the Abbey, waiting to speak to guests as they arrive.
Kate will be live outside Buckingham Palace, with Laura Tobin positioned on the Long Walk in Windsor and Charlotte Hawkins interviewing the Armed Forces.

ITV’s daytime programmes will also be dedicated to the royal event in the week leading up to the Coronation.
The GMB team will be joined by a range of special guests, including dignitaries and friends of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort.
The day before the momentous event, Lorraine will dedicate the show to all things Coronation, such as the best food to serve at Coronation street parties and the most fashionable party looks.
This Morning will then air a special live 150-minute episode, with Friday hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary presenting from Coronation Street’s iconic Weatherfield.
That same day, the Loose Women set will be transformed into a Great British garden party.
The BBC, on the other hand, will air unseen footage of King Charles in a special new documentary on April 30.
The 60-minute film, Charles R: The Making of a Monarch, will show the future King’s journey to the throne and span more than 70 years.
In the footage, viewers will see some of the Royal Family’s most personal moments, such as Prince Charles’ private visit to Malta in 1968, a family bonfire at Sandringham and the Prince flying solo.
Other previously unseen clips come from the family’s private home movie collection and show Charles’ “early love of nature, gardening and animals,” as well as other intimate moments between him and his family.
What makes this documentary particularly interesting is the fact that it will be told, “through His Majesty’s own words, as recorded through the decades”.
Both ITV and BBC will have live coverage all day to make sure that viewers can follow along.
