Piers Morgan stormed off set on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday after co-star Alex Beresford called him out over his behaviour.
Weather presenter Alex, 40, voiced his concerns about the outspoken presenter's language on the ITV breakfast show.
Referring to the Duchess of Sussex, the meteorologist said: "I understand that you do not like Meghan Markle and you have made it clear so many times – so many times on this programme.
"And I understand you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She is entitled to cut you off if she wants to.
"Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? Now, I do not think she has. But yet you continue to trash her."
Piers 55, suddenly got off his seat and stormed off set, refusing to continue the heated conversation.
Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to discuss the dramatic TV moment.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Piers Morgan is a panto character. His storming off set on #GMB all totally staged and pre planned."
A second person posted: "Surely that must have been staged? Alex was clear, calm, reasonable…. that couldn't have p'eed him off that much surely?"
Another added: "Was Piers walking off staged?"
While a fourth social media user said: "Surely no one is falling for this staged guff? You’re being manipulated people."
"Sorry but something smells massively of 'let's do a bit of damage limitation and give the public what they want' this morning with an incredibly staged 'sulk' by Piers," said a fifth viewer.
Others argued that it wasn't staged and that Piers' dramatic exit from the show was genuine.
One fan penned: "That definitely wasn’t staged.. you could sense the tension brewing between Piers and Alex."
A second person tweeted: "That looked real to me."
Walking out of the studio, Piers said: ""I’m done with this."
"No, no, no, that is pathetic," responded Alex. "Absolutely diabolical behaviour."
Piers kept walking, moving towards the backstage zone of the studio while saying: "Sorry, can’t do this."
After Piers exited the studio, Alex continued to make his point, saying: "Piers spouts off on a regular basis."
The meteorologist added the Monday instalment of Good Morning Britain, which saw Piers berate Meghan and Prince Harry's Oprah Winfrey, had been "hard to watch".
Piers' co-host Susanna, 50, then directed the ITV team to bring the show to a break, as she looked at the camera and said: "I think we need to just all take a break."
Over 10 minutes later, Piers finally returned to the show, finally agreeing to hold a conversation with his co-star Alex about the bombshell Oprah interview.
Trying to bring about a civil conversation on the subject, Susanna said: "Clearly what that interview has done is it has raised a lot of emotion and a lot of tension."
Alex explained his perspective, saying: "I'm not, by no way shape or form, accusing you of being a racist
"I know where you stand on things. I've got a great amount of respect for you Piers."
