'Good Girls': Fans Point out 1 Thing Christina Hendricks and Manny Montana Have in Common

Many Good Girls fans tune in to see what Beth (Christina Hendricks) and Rio (Manny Montana) will do for their next crime. The unlikely duo began working together in season one and have found themselves in nothing but trouble ever since. They also often bump heads on the NBC dramedy due to their differences and upbringings.

As Good Girls season 4 continues, some fans noticed that Hendricks and Montana also seem like an odd pair. However, other supporters realized the actors have one similarity after all.

‘Good Girls’ actors Christina Hendricks and Manny Montana played drastically different characters than Beth and Rio

In addition to Good Girls, Hendricks played Joan Harris on Mad Men. The AMC drama took place in 1960s New York and lasted from 2007 until 2015 and catapulted Hendricks’ career.

During an interview with The Rich Nelsen Show, the actor shared that it took her a long time to look for a series role after Mad Men ended. However, when she read the script to play Beth Boland, a suburban mom who finds herself working for a crime lord in season one of Good Girls, she felt like she found her next gig.

“It was a big decision to choose a new series to go on to after Mad Men,” Hendricks said. “I took a break and did some films and did guest spots on other things, but I wanted to make sure I was really really intrigued by something before I signed on to what could be, you know, quite some time, and I just loved that it was drama and comedy at the same time and that it was weird and quirky and what seemed like real kind of dialogue between people and it just felt very modern and fresh, and I thought I could do this for a while, I think I could contribute something here.”

Like Hendricks, Montana appeared in several roles that were different from Rio. One of his most notable characters came in season 13 when the actor starred as Agent Joe “Johnny” Tutorro in Graceland, per IMDb.

The one thing fans say Christina Hendricks and Manny Montana have in common

While discussing Good Girls on The Rich Nelsen Show, Hendricks also shared how she booked Mad Men in the early 2000s. The Toy Story actor explained in the interview that Joan was originally just a recurring character. However, Mad Men’s creator, Matthew Weiner, saw the potential for Hendricks to become one of the series’ central characters. Hendricks eventually stayed on Mad Men for all seven seasons.

Following the interview, some Reddit fans pointed out that Hendricks’ time on Mad Men felt similar to Montana’s role on Good Girls. Although Rio appeared in the show’s pilot episode, he wasn’t going to be the main character. Once fans noticed the chemistry between him and Beth, Rio started to appear on Good Girls more frequently. The similar character development was something TV watchers observed on Reddit. Other fans were excited to see Hendricks talk about playing Joan.

“The thing I found interesting is that her character Joan was supposed to be a minor recurring role, but as we know, she grew to be an intricate part of the whole show,” one fan shared. “I found it funny seeing how the same thing happened to Manny and his character Rio. That’s something they have in common!”

“Great interview,” another shared. “Now I want to rewatch Mad Men.”

Good Girls airs Sundays at 10 PM, EST on NBC.
