Grantchester Trailer: Season 8
Grantchester favourite Tom Brittney announced last month he’d be leaving the popular drama after five years, and he’s now filmed his final scenes.
Pictures obtained by Digital Spy show the actor filming his goodbye scenes on the ITV series.
He is seen happily strolling away with Nick Brimble who stars as Jack Chapman and Sylvia Maguire actress Tessa Peake-Jones.
While the nature of Will Davenport’s departure hasn’t yet been revealed, it’s safe to assume the key character will get a happy ending as scenes depict a cheerful goodbye.
Snaps show Will hugging Leonard Finch (played by Al Weaver), Jack and Mrs Maguire as well as other villagers before getting into a car with wife Bonnie Davenport (Charlotte Ritchie) and their baby.

Tom announced in July he would be leaving to move on to new things, and it was confirmed a replacement character had been lined up to fill the gap of Reverend Sidney Chambers’ (James Norton) sidekick.
Former Hollyoaks favourite Rishi Nair will be stepping into the role of Alphy Kotteram.
The actor expressed his excitement to be joining the series, stating: “The welcome and support I’ve received from everyone has been overwhelming.
“The success of the show and the reason we are here for a ninth season is a testament to all the people that have previously worked on it.
“I’m really excited to get started and cannot wait for the Grantchester fans to meet Alphy and to see all that’s in store for him.”

Talking about his exit, Tom said last month: “I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years.
“I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for. I’ll miss it more than anything.
“But it’s time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I’m so excited for Rishi [Nair] to join the Grantchester family.”
Grantchester is available to watch on ITVX.
