Matty has been crowned as winner of Great British Bake Off 2023, as he said: "It doesn't feel real"

The PE and science teacher said: "I don't know what to say".

"I never thought I would be on this, let alone win it", he added. Matty sweetly credited his fiancee for his win and said she was the reason for his victory. 

After nine weeks in the iconic Great British Bake Off tent, and nine brutal eliminations, the final episode saw Matty, Josh and Dan battle it out for the title of winner.

Last week's semi-final saw Josh crowned Star Baker while Tasha said her goodbyes as she was eliminated from the competition. 

In a touching farewell to the show, Tasha said: "This is the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but I just wish I could relive it all over again because oh my goodness what a DREAM it was!"

The Great British Bake Off made its iconic return to TV screens in September, with 12 new amateur bakers hoping to get as far as they could in the competition.

Ahead of the final episode, fans said they would have been happy to see any of the final three take home the crown, as one said: "All worthy contenders. They’ve been great in the tent!", while another added: "All of them would make worthy winners. All the best guys".

A third said: "I love this group of bakers and don't want anyone to go!".

Judge Paul Hollywood, previously hinted who might win the baking competition, as he told OK!: "I am really happy. The right person won and I didn’t expect it from the beginning."

The latest series didn't just introduced a new line-up of bakers, but This Morning presenter Alison Hammond took on the role of co-host, alongside Noel Fielding. Alison replaced Matt Lucas, who announced his exit from the hit Channel 4 show in December last year, following a three year stint co-hosting with Noel.

After landing the coveted role, Alison told OK! that she was "really chuffed."

"I didn’t realise how much I wanted it until I had to audition with Noel. My son was really excited as well, as he loves Bake Off" she explained.

Alison is no stranger to the show and took part in the Celebrity Bake Off for charity back in 2020 alongside the likes of Louis Theroux and Joe Sugg.
