Great British Bake Off viewers were aghast after watching Carole peel an avocado during Tuesday’s Mexican Week. Yes, really. Peel!

After creating 12 identical pan dulce in the signature challenge, the bakers were tasked with making tacos in the technical, which included steak, refried beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole.

Cracking on making her guac, Carole was seen peeling the skin off her avocado with a knife, just like you would a potato.

Bake Off viewers were stunned by Carole’s unusual method of de-skinning the fruit and quickly rushed to Twitter in disbelief.

‘Going to be thinking about Carole peeling an avocado like a potato for possibly the rest of my life,’ wrote one.

Another asked: ‘Am I the only person who has never seen someone peel an avocado with a peeler before?! Just looked wrong!’

Even Domino’s Pizza got in on the action, tweeting: ‘RIP Carole’s avocado.’

Usually, to get an avocado out of its skin, the fruit is cut in half and then the green flesh is scooped out using a spoon.

Sadly for Carole, her tacos failed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith and landed last place, but it wasn’t the end of her Bake Off journey.

Instead, the judges sent Rebs Lightbody and James Dewar home in a shock double elimination.

Rebs was in tears over her exit, telling the audience she was ‘devastated’, while Dame Prue explained to the camera the reason for sending her home was that her ‘flavours were too strong’.

James was also saddened to leave, but thanked his costars and the crew for having a wonderful time.

Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
