Hollyoaks bombshell Sarah Jayne Dunn has decided to leave the soap just weeks after announcing she'd joined OnlyFans.

The 40-year-old actress, who has played Mandy Richardson in the Channel 4 soap since 1996, announced last month that she'd joined the adult website to share racy snaps with her followers.

Soap bosses have since confirmed that Sarah has decided to leave the show after 25 years.

A statement from Lime Pictures said: "“Hollyoaks is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.

"We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.

"We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.

"In the past four years since her return to the show her legacy character has been an integral part of some our most important storylines and we will be very sad to see her go."

Sarah revealed last month that she had created an account to share some of her more racy snaps online and fans went wild.

She posted a lengthy explanation for why she’s made the move to the adult subscription site.

The soap star explained that she had some sexier content that she knew wasn’t “for everyone” so had decided to find a new platform to share it.

"Welcome to the new home for all my racier content, I hope you enjoy. Let me know what you’d like to see most," she also wrote on her landing page.

"This is a decision I’ve thought long and hard about, not one I’ve taken lightly or on a whim, it’s about taking back control, about empowerment and confidence and having full power over my choices.”

"I love doing photoshoots, always have always will, it’s how I got into the acting industry, at the tender age of 12 I decided I wanted to be a model and enrolled on a modelling course, joined an agency and had my first professional shoot and I was hooked.

"I got my first tv audition and the rest is history.”

After reaching the milestone age of 40, Sarah decided it was time to “take back control” and "healthy boundaries in place" to know her value.

"That’s what this is about, being in control, choosing empowerment," the actress said. "I feel sexy and strong and confident when I shoot images like this.”

“I’ll undoubtedly be judged, some might find it shocking, but I'm simply moving my sexier, racier images to another platform.

"I'm not sure what’s shocking about it, most likely a few trolls will crawl out from under their rocks, but I get that when I post these images on here anyway, it’s nothing I haven’t heard before.

“Unfortunately they’ll always be haters and people that want a reason to knock you down, I won’t let them, this is about rising above and owning it,” she added.

Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 6.30pm followed by first-look episodes on E4 at 7pm
