A BOASTFUL jeweller on BBC’s Inside Dubai revealed how he sold a gold scarf for a six-figure sum – but insisted it’s “not much”.
During Monday night’s instalment of the eye-opening show, the United Arab Emirates’ gold industry was placed under the microscope – and it made for shocking viewing.
Soon into the episode, shopkeeper Abu explained that he has half a tonne of gold available for purchase in his store, with his most expensive item a gold scarf.
“It’s not much, but it’s something different in gold,” he told the camera, revealing its eye-watering price tag of £100,000.
The documentary maker then showed a shot of the accessory, which was wrapped around a mannequin’s face and featured a pair of gold sunglasses.
When asked whether the sunglasses could be thrown into the sale, Abu bluntly replied: “No”.
Viewers weren’t too impressed by the goods on sale though, not to mention its sky-high prices.
Alongside a confused-faced emoji, one person wrote: “The price of everything and the value of absolutely nothing.”
Echoing their sentiments, someone else commented: “That gold looks so tacky.”
Just last week, the three-part documentary series left viewers shellshocked after a man revealed he spent £6.6million on a personalised number plate.
In the first episode, audiences were introduced to the lavish lifestyles of millionaires in Dubai, with one woman boasting the luxury of owning a wardrobe worth £4million.
