ITV I’m A Celeb’s Sam Thompson mocked by girlfriend Zara as fans spot habit

Zara McDermott has mocked her boyfriendSam Thompson, just one day after he entered theI’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

31 year old Sam,who conquered his fear of heights during the show’s revamped Walk The Plank challenge, got viewers talking after they noticed that the Made In Chelsea star appears to love hugs after “throwing” himself at his other campmates when greeting them.

In response, Sam’s girlfriend, formerLove Island star Zara, has taken to social media to poke fun at the TV personality’s love of giving hugs.

Sharing a meme on Instagram, Zara shared a GIF which showed Michael Scott from the US Office excitedly hugging Jim Halpert alongside the caption: “Sam at every possible opportunity."

Zara isn’t the only one to make light of Sam’s habit, with social media users taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out his interactions.

“The way Sam keeps throwing himself to hug someone is just brilliant #ImACelebrity,” wrote one user. “Why are all of Sam’s hugs so aggressive #ImACelebrity,” another added.

A third wrote: “Fred looks terrified every time Sam hugs him He does throw himself at him though #ImACelebrity."

Prior to entering the jungle,Sam opened up about his decision to sign up for the show and revealed that Zara, who recently competed in Strictly Come Dancing, would be rooting for him at home while he was in camp – the same as he did for her.

“She is really happy for me and proud,” he told OK!. “She had an amazing time on Strictly and she tried to get as far as she possibly could. I’m going to miss my girlfriend so much. I will also miss my best mate, Pete Wicks. He has already said, ‘People will either love or hate you!’”

Sam also explained that his former Made In Chelsea co-stars would be shocked to find out that he was entering the jungle. “I think they will think, ‘How did he get on that?’” he joked. “They are going to be surprised!”

Meanwhile, in an interview withThe Sun the TV star revealed thatgoing to Australia and being away from Zara would be a “strain” for him.

“Obviously it is a strain for anyone's heartstrings. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss my girlfriend so much. I already do miss her. But having said that, what an amazing experience,” he said.
