Jeremy Clarkson sparked a huge backlash with his comments on Meghan Markle that were published in The Sun newspaper on Friday. The former Top Gear host said he “hated” the Duchess and “dreamt of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets” while crowds throw “excrement at her”.

The Grand Tour host wrote: “I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level.”

He also added that “everyone” his age “thinks the same way”.

On Mark Dolan’s GB News show, author and columnist Emma Woolf condemned Jeremy’s comments.

Emma claimed: “I think Jeremy Clarkson has made a complete fool of himself and where was his editor? Why was it allowed to go out?”

“When you say ‘allowed to go out’ this is a free country, are we going to start burning books?” Mark fumed.

“In the current climate of threats and violence against women which has always been around but in the current heightened awareness of threats and violence against women this should not have been written.

“You say he’s edgy, he’s satirical, he’s funny. I like clever satire, I like funny humour.

“This wasn’t funny, it wasn’t clever, it was actually really offensive to talk about fantasising about a woman parading naked with excrement and I’m no Meghan fan.”

Emma admitted she would “go further” than her co-panellists in her criticism of Meghan and Harry.

“The silly thing is,” she continued. “Jeremy Clarkson is just feeding into the Harry and Meghan hysteria.

“The best thing he could have done was ignore them instead he’s feeding this fantasy they’ve got that they whole media is against them and that everybody is threatening them and treating them badly.

“Frankly, if they wanted privacy they should have got on with having privacy rather than signing all these deals.”

Jeremy has been condemned by many including Carol Vorderman and his daughter Emily Clarkson.

The former Countdown star tweeted: “NO Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it ok to write this stuff about any woman & absolutely NO to ‘everyone who’s my age thinks the same’.

“No no no. We absolutely do NOT think the same. Listen to the noise Jeremy. The crowds are chanting ‘shame on YOU’.” (sic)

She later shared an Instagram story from Emily slamming her father’s words.

Carol wrote: “Jeremy Clarkson. His wonderful daughter Emily has just put out a statement on her instagram account.

“‘I stand against everything that my Dad wrote about Meghan Markle’.  FYI Emily has spoken many times about how she suffered very badly from online abuse when she was younger.”

Jeremy’s daughter posted on Instagram: “My views are and have always been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the treatment of women by the media.

“I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those that are targeted with online hatred.”
