Jon Kay warns BBC Breakfast co-star ‘You’ll get into trouble’ over cheeky remark

Sally asks Alan Shearer for a photo of his ‘lucky pants’

Sally Nugent was warned by her co-host Jon Kay: “You’ll get in trouble over that!” as she made a cheeky request to beloved sports icon Alan Shearer.

It came as BBC sports broadcaster John Watson had been interviewing from the show’s sofa while seated next to the hosts.

He’d been talking to Alan about Newcastle’s football victory, which has seen the team back playing at home, causing a buzz around the city.

After John had concluded his questions, presenter Jon probed: “Have you got any rituals you go through before a game like this, any lucky pants?”

Alan shook his head and replied: “Nothing like that Jon, no, unfortunately.”

The 53-year-old quickly added: “Why would I tell you, anyway?” before laughing at the question.

As the group also chuckled, Jon tried to conclude the questioning by smiling: “We’ll let you go and get changed.

“Alan Shearer, thank you very much indeed.”

“Thanks Alan, great to speak to you,” the sports correspondent added.

“Yeah, send us a photo of the lucky pants,” Sally couldn’t help but quip.

“No!” Jon snapped at his co-presenter while Alan continued to laugh.

Jon swiftly moved on by explaining to viewers: “Right, it’s coming up to ten to nine,” before turning to his colleague and warning her: “You’ll get into trouble for that!”

“Carol [Kirkwood] has got the weather for us this morning,” the presenter added before turning to BBC’s meteorologist.

Even Carol had been left amused by the interaction though as Jon pointed out: “That made you smile! Morning.”

“It certainly did,” Carol confirmed before beaming: “Good morning,” and updating fans on the latest in the forecast.

Elsewhere in the interview, Shearer confessed he was feeling giddy” about his beloved football team.

“I can’t imagine [a giddy Alan Shearer],” Jon admitted.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
