Leyla Cavanagh (Roxy Shahidi) was left fighting for her life in Emmerdale after kidnapper Callum smacked her across the face, revealing that he will kill her if she doesn’t stop talking.
The wedding planner, as viewers know, was taken prisoner by drug dealer Callum earlier this week, after her and Suzy Merton’s (Martelle Edinborough) latest attempt to take him down backfired dramatically.
Out for revenge for Suzy telling his contacts that he’s a grass, Callum attacked her with a brick, before terrorising Leyla with text messages, hinting that he would murder her colleague and friend over what they’ve done.
Leyla broke down in tears, with Caleb Milligan (William Ash) subsequently offering her advice, telling her to stand up to her adversary and make it clear she’s not to be messed with.
Taking the newcomer’s words of wisdom on board, Leyla texted Callum, arranged a meeting and attempted to pay him off with a wad of cash. Callum, however, was having none of it, as he took her hostage, tying her up in a remote cabin in the woods.
After leaving her overnight, Callum returned, informing Leyla that the plan is to have her join the business and do a drop off, reiterating that his contacts are not people you say no to.
But things soon took as surprising turn, as Callum realised he’d been cut off by those so-called contacts and began to fear the worst, knowing that going on the run was his only option.
Leyla, meanwhile, pleaded with him to let her go, but Callum had other ideas, as he smacked her across the face, knocking her unconscious.

In harrowing scenes, the dealer gagged Leyla once more, ordering her to stay quiet – otherwise he’ll kill her.
Back in the village, Lela’s loved ones worked out what had happened and thus got the police involved – but will it be too little too late?
Will Leyla be found in time? Or will Callum resort to murder to cover his own tracks?
Emmerdale continues Thursday March 16 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
