Actress Linda Henry has been part of the BBC staple EastEnders for way over a decade and has established herself as a key character through her portrayal of Shirley. Linda was also a regular on former ITV drama Bad Girls, which ran from 1999 to 2006. Express.co.uk has taken a look at the star’s life behind her acting roles.

Who is EastEnders star Linda Henry married to?

Linda has been married to Stavros Virilis since 1992.

The couple share a daughter who was born the year after they married.

Not much is known about Linda’s husband, with Stavros seemingly preferring to stay out of the spotlight.

Linda doesn’t seem to be in many headlines in recent years either, but some facts about her are available.

The actress was born on August 24, 1959, and was brought up in Peckham.

She spent some time training with the Old Vic Youth Theatre in the borough of Southwark.

At 17, she attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.

Later, she set up her own production company, Buster, which is still running today.

Linda is no longer involved with the business, however.

As well as Bad Girls and EastEnders, Linda has starred in hit shows such as Birds of a Feather, The Bill, A Touch of Frost and Touching Evil.

She also starred in the BBC soap before landing her role as Shirley.

Long before the loud-mouth character came along, Linda played Lorraine Salter, a prostitute and mother of troubled teenager Mandy Salter (played by Nicola Stapleton).

Linda also worked with EastEnders colleague Tameka Empson (Kim Fox) once before.

The pair starred in the hit 1996 film, Beautiful Thing.

They depicted bickering neighbours in the highly acclaimed movie.

According to WhatToWatch, Linda’s character Shirley was ranked 36th in the list of the 100 greatest EastEnders characters of all time.

As well as acting alongside Tameka before joining EastEnders, Linda also worked with on-screen son Danny Dyer once before.

She had a minor role in thriller The Business, where Danny starred as Frankie, a Londoner-turned-Spanish drug dealer.

Linda’s character was called Shirley in this role as well.

EastEnders continues on Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
