Litvinenko is based on the true story of Alexander Litvinenko (played by David Tennant) who claimed to have been poisoned on the orders of Vladimir Putin. Co-operating with the Metropolitan Police, Alexander goes into great detail about the events leading up to his murder and so an investigation is launched which takes the police to Moscow to find out the truth. Here’s everything there is to know to watch Litvinenko.
How many episodes are in Litvinenko?
Litvinenko will be out on Thursday, December 15, on ITVX and will consist of four episodes in total.
The entire boxset is going to be ready to stream once it has launched on the streamer.
ITVX has replaced the channel’s first streaming platform ITV Hub and, to celebrate this refurb, will feature exclusives such as Litvinenko.
The gripping drama will also air on ITV sometime in 2023 but no official release date has been announced yet.

Litvinenko will tell the true story of the events of November 2006 when two officers were called to the University College Hospital in London to speak to a dying patient.
Former KGB officer Alexander Litvinenko went on to tell the officers that he had been poisoned with his death coming directly from none other than Vladimir Putin.
He goes into great detail about the events which led up to his illness and it was thanks to his information that the police discovered he had been poisoned with the highly toxic radioactive substance Polonium 210.
A murder investigation was subsequently launched to try and catch those responsible for Alexander’s death.
Standing by his side throughout it all, as well as after his death, is his wife Marina Litvinenko (Margarita Levieva).
The widow continues to try and persuade the British Government to name those who killed her husband and acknowledge the role of the Russian state in his murder.
But how will the officers find the necessary evidence needed to get justice for Alexander and his family?
As well as a fascinating true story, Litvinenko has a recognisable and talented cast.
