Loose Women Kelle gave away her bank card as ‘controlling’ ex took over life

Loose Women's Kelle Bryan admitted to being "knee deep" in a controlling relationship on Thursday's show.

Speaking about Netflix's new documentary The Tinder Swindler, the Loose Women panel discussed the story of 'Simon Leviev' and a group of women who were the victims of the dating app based swindler who were conned out of thousands.

Opening up about her own experience, former Eternal star Kelle, 46, revealed that she was once "knee deep in a controlling relationship".

Speaking to the ladies on the panel on Thursday (February 10), Kelle said: "I had been in a cohesive relationship in my past and most definitely I can relate to those women, because I was in that position.

"I was in a relationship with somebody who [sic], we were of an equal pegging, so there was no problem in terms of money at the beginning but once that person fell out of their job, I began to support that person financially.

"And then just one thing leads to another and before you know it you're knee deep in this kind of entrenched relationship where the person controls you in every aspect of your life."

Kelle was then asked whether the person in question had access to her funds, when she admitted that she gave him a bank card.

"Well yeah, I actually gave them a card to be able to use because I didn't want them to feel emasculated by having to ask me for money so I actually did do that.

"Before anybody tweets me," she said directly to the camera, "I don't want to hear it. I'm telling you now, straight up and up front, I don't want to hear it. Because until you've walked a mile in that person's shoes you don't know what that experience is or what that person has gone through."

She then added that when she did it she thinks she was: "young, dumb and what I thought was love."

Kelle then went on to detail how the control the person had over her meant her "mental capacity to make good decisions went out of the window."

Jane then asked Kelle how she found out her then partner had racked up debt, before she detailed how the bank called her and that was how she found out.

Charlene said: "I don't want you to say the figure, but we're not talking about a tiny amount of money here are we?"

Kelle responded: "No, I mean, you know [sic] it escalates to cars and you know, massive big things that you do."

Praising Kelle for speaking out, one fan took to Twitter to say: "As @kellebryan talked about on @loosewomen today, economic abuse is a very real thing … and victims should not be labelled naive as it could happen to anyone."

Viewers were quick to join in the conversation surrounding The Tinder Swindler, with one writing: "@loosewomen tinder swindler story happens in a daily basis, it happen something similar to me in london, Someone that took £5000 from me. What need to be highlighted here is that these people are professionals and we shouldn’t feel bad for believing them."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30 on ITV.
