The Good Morning Britain presenter and RMT boss Mick Lynch entered into a heated row on Tuesday morning. Richard was left furious over the “disingenuous” decision for train strikes to happen over the Christmas period, which ended with the pair shouting at each other in a heated row.
Richard began: “Just focus on Christmas now and I am not being sentimental about this and you will know because you keep an eye on the polls.
“But many people who support your right to strike and support your basic thrust and your cause are appalled that you are striking over Christmas, over this Christmas period.
“They feel that it is an act of almost sadism and unkindness, what ever happened to Christmas kindness, why couldn’t you put all of these strikes into January?
“Why do you have to target people at Christmas? Because you are going to be putting people out of business who run hotels, who run restaurants, who run bars and retailers.

“This is the time of year when they make their money and you are robbing them of their income for the coming year, many of them are saying they are going to go bust.”
Beginning to explain the reason behind the end-of-year strikes, Mick said: “We’re not targeting Christmas.
“It isn’t Christmas yet Richard, I don’t know when your Christmas starts but mine starts on Christmas Eve, so we are striking at this time.”
Furious at Mick’s reply, Richard jibed: “That is disingenuous, commercial Christmas starts in December and you know that very well, you are being disingenuous.”

Mick explained: “It’s not disingenuous is it,” however, Richard was not letting the comment slide and continued: “Of course it is.
“Commercial Christmas does not start on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve is when people shut early, don’t be ridiculous.
“Commercial Christmas starts at the end of November and that is when people make their money and you are depriving them of their income, that is the point.”
Throughout Richard’s rant, Mick tried to get his point across and spoke over the presenter: “If you let me finish the answer.
“Richard you are just talking to yourself at the minute, your ranting, Richard you are ranting now. Have you finished then? I have answered the question, if you give me a minute I will.”
Richard continue to slam the trade unionist: “Well no you said commercial Christmas starts on Christmas Eve and that is nonsense, I will not let you get away with nonsense.
“Christmas does not start on Christmas Eve, so let’s just be clear it starts in early December and that is what we are talking about.”
Mick quipped back: “Richard why don’t you just interview yourself if you want to talk to me like that.”
Standing by his point, Richard continued: “I am holding you to account on behalf of the viewers, not on behalf of myself, I don’t like listening to the sound of my own voice.
“I would like to hear yours answering the question, why do you have to target Christmas? If you don’t answer the question then I am going to keep interrupting, on you go, jog on.”
Mick was left visibly frustrated with the interaction and asked: “No your not, you’re just talking to yourself at the moment.
“If you would like to hear mine then why don’t you stop talking for a second? Have you finished now? You can’t interrupt me if you won’t let me talk.”
Richard made one final attempt to get an answer from Mick and said: “You said Christmas begins on Christmas Eve and that has to be challenged.
“To come back and answer the point, why are you taking action on the weeks leading up to Christmas, destroying many people’s Christmas.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
